Stearns County has been actively reviewing the drainage system to react to complaints of obstructions within the ditch channel. The goal has been to understand the issues and condition of the ditch and then determine an appropriate action plan. This page is meant to be a resource for property owners to understand past, present, and future projects that may incur costs for the ditch system.
Any costs incurred by the drainage system are paid by property owners in the system through special assessments.

During the week of October 24, Dullinger Excavating completed the Drainage Authority approved repair of CD 3 from 365th St to Ditch End. These photos show examples of the work completed:

At the September 27, 2022 Board of Commissioners meeting, the County Board acting as the Drainage Authority for County Ditch 4 approved repairs to the system. Contracts were awarded to the lowest bidders. Dullinger Excavating will be repairing the ditch from 365th St to ditch end at a cost of $10,800. Imholte Excavating will be removing trees from the ditch near 130th Ave at a cost of $6,215.00. Work is expected to be complete by Dec. 31, 2022. The map below shows the location of the repairs.

The Stearns Drainage Authority will be hosting an informational meeting regarding County Ditch 4, which will be held at the Avon Township Hall 16881 Queens Rd on July 18 at 7:00PM. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of how ditch systems work and information about proposed repair work to County Ditch 4. Any repair would require the approval of the Stearns County Board of Commissioners. The cost of any repair or other expense to County Ditch 4 will be paid by the property owners who participate in the drainage system.
