Stearns County Ditch 22 (CD22)
Stearns County Ditch 22 (CD22) was established in 1905. The ditch is 3.8 miles in length and contains roughly 949 benefitted acres.
CD22 is both a legal county ditch and partially is public waters. The DNR requires review of any drainage projects that may impact public waters and may also require a permit for work in the ditch or a letter of permission.

Stearns County is in the final stages of completing a Redetermination of Benefits for County Ditch 28 (CD 28). County Ditch 22 drains directly into County Ditch 28. In other words, CD 28 is the outlet for CD 22’s water. Because CD 28 carries the water that comes from CD 22, CD 22 receives what state drainage law calls an “outlet benefit.”
A letter has been mailed to property owners with further explaination of this process.
