Stearns County Ditch 43 (CD43)

Stearns County Ditch 43 (CD43) was established June 22, 1917. The ditch is 3.39 miles in length and contains roughly 1,245 benefited acres. CD43 is both a legal county ditch and partially is public waters. The DNR requires review of any drainage projects that may impact public waters and may also require a permit for work in the ditch or a letter of permission.

During the past year, there has not been any maintenance to the ditch, and Stearns County has not received any concerns about the condition of the ditch from property owners. The ditch system is scheduled for its legally required inspection in 2023. The inspection and any maintenance performed next year will generate costs for the drainage system which are paid by all property owners within the system through special assessments.
